Welcome to the world of Irish Dance! In the McTeggart School, you will find a fun and friendly group of people, along with opportunities to perform, compete, and have fun!

The McTeggart School

Maureen Hall, ADCRG

The McTeggart School of Irish Dance was established in Cork, Ireland, in 1939. The first director was Peg McTeggart, the eldest of four sisters, all of them champion Irish dancers.

One sister, Maureen McTeggart Hall (ADCRG), emigrated to the United States in 1958. Mrs. Hall began teaching dance in 1976 in Denver, where she lived at the time.

Mrs. Hall now lives in Fresno, California, where she has a school. She travels to teach dancers at her other schools in Lexington, Oklahoma City, Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Salt Lake City and New Orleans. Mrs. Hall has been chairman of the Western Region, a vice- president of the Irish Dancing Commission and a frequent adjudicator at the North American, All-Ireland and World Championships.

Allison Duvall, TCRG

Allison Duvall grew up Irish dancing under the instruction of Maureen McTeggart Hall.  She began assisting with classes at age 15 and competed through the Open Championship level, placing 8th at the 2010 and 2011 Mid-America Oireachtasi (Irish Dance Championships) and competing at the World Championships in Dublin in 2011 and Belfast in 2012.

Allison passed the TCRG exam in January 2013 and is thrilled to teach students throughout central Kentucky.  She teaches all classes and levels of dancers from 4 years to adults, beginners to champions.

When not in the dance studio, Allison loves spending time with her husband, Clay.  She is employed by the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington as the Executive Director of Reading Camp, a literacy program for low-income and at-risk students.  She is 2009 summa cum laude graduate of Transylvania University.

Kentucky McTeggart Irish Dancers (KMID)

Kentucky McTeggart Irish Dancers, Inc. (KMID) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. It was formed in 2001 by a network of parents to promote Irish dancing for their children and for the community. That year, KMID began leasing a mirrored dance hall at ArtsPlace for classes. In 2004, the organization became a member of the Lexington Arts and Cultural Council.  In August 2012, we moved to our current home, at the McTeggart Irish Dance Studio, 3519 Lansdowne Drive.
